NOTE: DMPS is making several changes and updates to our website to highlight our current programs, departments and offices. Our new Leadership and Learning department oversees a number of areas directly impacting students. When the web site update is complete those items will be housed in this section of the website. In the meantime, if you cannot find information online please be sure to use the search tool at the top of this page.

From academics to nutrition to health and so much more, if it is about supporting more than 30,000 students it is a part of our Leadership & Learning department.

Leadership & Learning provides guidance to the schools of DMPS, supporting our educators in their work to help students grow academically from preschool through graduation. This also includes a number of educational programs such as English Language Learning, Advanced Placement, Career and Technical Education, and more.

Both in and out of the classroom, Leadership & Learning works to meet the diverse needs of our students. From serving special education students with individual educational plans to offering dozens of opportunities for all students to participate in activities to developing a culture and climate in school inclusive of all, the department works to help everyone find a way to succeed.

Finally, Leadership & Learning provides for a range of services for the day-to-day operations of our schools. This includes providing tens of thousands of meals each day, transporting tens of thousands of students to and from school, supporting the health and well-being of students with a nurse at every school, and working with dozens of community partners in support of our students and schools.
