CLAT Events for 2018

Want to make your voice heard in support of public education and our schools in Des Moines? Attend any or all of the following events being sponsored by the Community Legislative Action Team:

CLAT 2018 KICK-OFF MEETING

All are welcome to attend a meeting on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 1:00 – 2:30 PM in Central Campus Multi Purpose Room. The meeting will be a chance to discuss priorities and advocacy plans for the 2018 legislative session.

MONTHLY LEGISLATIVE COFFEE

Get updates from Des Moines-area legislators on education-related issues at our monthly coffees, held on the second Saturday of each month starting in January. The coffees begin at 9:00 AM and are held in the library at Hubbell Elementary School.

ADVOCACY TRAINING

The DMPS Community Legislative Action Team (CLAT) is meeting at the State Capitol in the cafeteria area on the lower level on Saturday, Jan. 27 to tour the Capitol and to learn more about how to engage with our Senators and Representatives in preparation for the CLAT Advocacy event on Feb. 21, and for any other time you want to visit with legislators at the Capitol.

DAY ON THE HILL

Members of CLAT will visit the State Capitol to talk with legislators on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. The event will start with a briefing at East High School at 8 AM and then proceed to the Capitol at 9:00 AM. Click here to sign up.
