Roots Capoeira is a cultural arts organization that provides educational programming for youth and the broader Des Moines community. Capoeira was a persecuted Afro-Brazilian cultural expression and is protected by UNESCO today as intangible cultural heritage.

Community Capoeira classes open to students from all schools. Ages 6-9 are on Tuesday and Ages 10 and up are on Thursdays.

In this six-hour class, Grades 1st through 7th dig into character development, collaborate on design, and grow leadership skills all while having tons of fun and making new friends. Family and friends are invited back at 3pm for a once-in-a-lifetime production!
