This year’s Winter sports season got started a little later at Des Moines Public Schools, due to COVID-19, but once practices resumed on the first day of Winter break it was off to a busy January and February for the boys basketball season.

The seasons ended with two DMPS high schools atop the CIML Metro Conference, with Hoover (7-1 conference, 12-4 overall) as champions followed by North (8-2 conference, 10-4 overall).

This week the CIML Metro Conference announced their all-conference boys’ basketball teams (see below).

In addition, the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association named Hoover sophomore Chase Henderson as a 3rd team All-State selection.

Finally, the Iowa Basketball Coaches Associations awarded All-Region honors to four DMPS student-athletes:

  • Jakari Bradley – Roosevelt – Region 8
  • Trovary Covil – Lincoln – Region 2
  • Chase Henderson – Hoover – Region 2
  • Diondre Taylor – North – Region 7

Congratulations to the Huskies, Polar Bears, Rails, Riders and Scarlets earning honors:
