UPDATE: Hoover won its first round game against Charles City 7-2 and its semifinal game against Sergeant Bluff-Luton 12-1. The Huskies will play ADM in the championship game on Friday, July 20 at 5:45 PM in Fort Dodge.

In 1982, Hoover High School made its first and only appearance at the state softball tournament. The Huskies made it a memorable trip, however, defeating Charles City 6-3 to win the state championship.

After 36 years Hoover is headed back to Fort Dodge. And who do they face in the first round game of the state tournament? Charles City!

The Huskies trip back to state was a long one, winning three road games in a row in the postseason. Their ticket was punched with a 3-2 win over Lewis Central in Monday night’s regional final in Council Bluffs.

Hoover will face Charles City on Tuesday, July 17 at 3:00 PM. The state tournament is held at Harlan Rogers Park in Fort Dodge.
