East, Hoover, Lincoln Wrestlers Qualify for State

UPDATE: All six DMPS wrestlers will be competing on day two of the State championship. Matthew Jordan of East won his first round championship match; the other five student-athletes won their first round consolation matches.

Six DMPS wrestlers from East, Hoover and Lincoln high schools have qualified for the State championship meet, which gets underway later this week at Wells Fargo Arena in downtown Des Moines. The qualifiers include a trio of freshmen along with two seniors who are making return trips to state.

  • 106: Nate Kahoe, Lincoln freshman
  • 120: Matthew Jordan, East freshman
  • 152: Shawn Brown, Lincoln freshman
  • 160: Tad Griffith, Lincoln sophomore
  • 195: Billy White, East senior
  • 285: Ad Edwards, Hoover senior
