Postseason accolades for the cream of the DMPS baseball crop are starting to roll in on the eve of the 2015 State Tournament. The East High Scarlets return to State this year, where they will face Iowa City West on Wednesday in a 7:30 PM quarterfinal game at Principal Park in downtown Des Moines.

DMPS players earning honors include:

  • A trio of seniors at East was named both first team All Metro Conference and First Team All South Central District over the weekend: infielders Connor Enochs and Chino Alcala and outfielder Jaylin James.
  • Roosevelt also had three honorees on both squads: seniors Michael Watson (P) and Foster Anshutz (UT) and junior Ben Norman (OF).
  • Hoover seniors Matt Schwarz (IF) and Jalen Horton (OF) were named First Team All Metro, while Horton was also named First Team All District.
  • Lincoln senior Mason Downing made All Metro as a utility player and All District as an outfielder.

Congratulations to these fine nine and good luck to the Scarlets on Wednesday night!
