East Tries for Three-Peat in Get Schooled Attendance Challenge

Set the alarms and hands off the snooze button! Blow reveille! The phone’s ringing – it’s better grades and brighter futures and they’re waiting to speak to YOU!

Today East High School officially launches its bid for a three-peat in the Get Schooled Attendance Challenge.

Get Schooled is a national non-profit founded in 2010 on the belief that students have the power to improve their future if given the right information and motivation. It seeks to leverage the key influences in teens’ lives to directly engage them on their path through high school and into college.

Get Schooled uses the messengers that youth listen to and meets them where they are to deliver information they need to be successful.

Two years ago the Scarlets boosted their daily average enough to win both regional and national crowns and were rewarded with a red carpet, exclusive, sneak peek showing of the film Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol.

Last year they successfully defended their regional top spot, an achievement that was celebrated by a stop on the Get Schooled national Victory Tour. Celebrities Master P, Lil Romeo and Cymphonique were on hand for a raucous rally in the East gym that was a hip-hoppy rap on the back for another job well done.

Difficult as it is to win in the first place and the even harder it gets to encore the second time around, East is fired up to go for the hat trick in 2013-14. Can they do it? Get up and get to school, Scarlets, and find out! Call it Mission Possible 3. The mission, should you decide to accept it, is to “lead all of the DMPS high schools in attendance this year,” according to East’s School Improvement Leader, Kris Byam. Cue the theme music.
