Lindsay Fox to Become Next Ruby Van Meter Principal
Des Moines Public Schools welcomes Lindsay Fox as the next principal of Ruby Van Meter. Fox will take over for longtime principal Cynthia Weisz, who will retire at the end of the 2022-23 school year.
Fox comes to Des Moines from Cedar Rapids, where she is a Special Education Director for Wapsie Valley Schools and Jesup Community Schools. She started her career as a teacher with the Cedar Rapids Community School District and as a teacher and teacher leader for the College Community School District, focusing on students with intellectual disabilities. She has also served as a student teaching site supervisor for Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ, and an associate coordinator with Discovery Living.
“I am thrilled to welcome Lindsay Fox as the new principal of Ruby Van Meter School,” said Shelly Bosovich, DMPS Executive Director of Student and Family Services. “With her extensive background in special education and leadership, along with her passion for working with students with disabilities, I am confident that Lindsay will bring innovative ideas and valuable experience to the school community.”
Fox has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC, and two master’s degrees, one in Special Education from the University of Iowa, and one in Educational Leadership from Drake University.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead Ruby Van Meter,” Fox said. “My passion for working with students with disabilities and my experience will work in tandem with all of the amazing things RVM already has in place. I am looking forward to developing relationships with students, staff, and families at RVM to continue the work of fostering independence and community involvement for each and every student.”
Fox’s placement as principal of Ruby Van Meter was approved by the DMPS school board and she will begin her work on July 1, 2023.
