Our hearts are with the North High School staff, and every student-athlete who worked with swim coach Lonny Kerman over the years. We’re sad to report Coach Kerman, who retired just last spring, has passed away.

Coach Kerman spent 16 season as the head coach of the North High School Women’s Swim Team. During his time at North, he coached 16 athletes to 48 State Championship meet swims with 11 top ten finishes. All of the North High School swimming records were at one point held by Coach Kerman’s swimmers and several still are to this day.

Coach Kerman has also had tremendous success with the Otters over its 38 year history. Swimming in both a summer conference and a winter conference, the Otters have combined to win a total of 60 championships, losing only once.

“Coach Kerman has shown a passion and dedication for swimming and North High School that is unmatched,” said NHS Activities Director Oliver Sinclair. “Over his almost 40 years around the North High Swimming program, he has remained faithful to North High School and the Northside no matter where his life has taken him.”
