Chloe Ibsen, a senior at Roosevelt High School and student at Central Campus and Central Academy, has been selected as the female representative of Iowa at the National Youth Science Camp.

Her selection was announced by Central Campus’s College Biotechnology in Medicine instructor Kacia Cain.

Chloe is a French-American bilingual student. She is the captain of the girl’s golf team, a member of the swim team, a National Honor Society student, a member of the National Youth Leadership Council, and a former delegate to Beijing, China for the 2012 Global Positioning Summer Program.

Chloe has always had a passion for the sciences, and hopes to become a surgeon. Last summer she was the youngest intern at VIDA Diagnostics in Iowa City, and co-authored an abstract on radiation dose modulation for Computed Tomography scans.

Next school year she will attend Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN to study biomedical engineering.

The National Youth Science Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation established in 1983 to provide STEM-focused programs for students from all across the country and around the world.

The NYSF’s flagship program, the National Youth Science Camp, is a four week session in the mountains of West Virginia that combines some of the brightest students in the country with top-notch scientists for lectures and outdoor adventures. Many students return later in their own STEM careers as guest presenters and perpetuate the traditions of the camp.
