‘Books From Bobby’ Seeks Shipping Help

bobbyCallanan Middle School student Bobby Washington has a problem and he needs help.

Washington started a nonprofit organization, “Books From Bobby,” last year.  The 13-year-old has since collected hundreds of books for two schools in Monrovia, Liberia.  The books will help approximately 2,000 children and 50 educators.  Now he needs to ship them.

Bobby’s mom, Stacie Mitchell-Gweah, an award-winning teacher at Callanan, is helping Bobby with his first fundraiser — a roller skating party — Saturday, June 7, from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Skate South.

Mitchell-Gweah estimates it will cost about $10,000 to ship the books and materials donated by universities, neighbors and friends.
