DMPS: The Musical

Roosevelt High School presents “Pippin” this Thursday through Saturday.

It’s that time of year, when some of the glow from the bright lights of Broadway shines on to our high schools in Des Moines.

First it was North’s production of Urinetown: The Musical followed by Hoover’s presentation of Anything Goes.

Next week East will stage High School Musical and Lincoln presents the play Get Smart.

This week it’s showtime for Roosevelt’s Pippin under the direction of hall-of-famer Lori Glawe.

Besides three performances at Roosevelt’s historic auditorium the Riders’ drama troupe was invited to perform Pippin as the opening main stage production for the State Thespian Festival on the UNI campus in Cedar Falls November 15 and 16. The show will also be featured in an Iowa Public Television production about high school theater that will air sometime in December.
