Basic Functions: The Content Developer builds out online and blended courses in the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) based on specific design standards, instructional information, and existing curricular standards based learning goals and scales. Content Developers work with Curriculum Coordinators and Instructional Technology Coordinators to ensure that all course materials meet an appropriate standard of rigor and maximize the capabilities of the LMS.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and develop online versions of currently-offered traditional DMPS courses, and help to develop new uses of Canvas for effective delivery of new and existing courses.
  • Work with Instructional Technology Coordinators to resolve any issues that arise during course development and to ensure integrity of instructional design. Test to make sure course elements are functional and accessible.
  • Selects appropriate texts and multimedia materials for courses aligned to curricular goals.
  • Determine how course elements are organized. Ensure the right format for each component of online course operation is properly loaded and works seamlessly in the online course delivery.
  • Work with Curriculum Coordinators and Instructional Technology Coordinators to cross-check courses for curricular alignment.

Compensation:

  • The Content Developer will be compensated upon satisfactory completion of all components of the course building process.
  • Content Developers are expected to keep a log of time invested in course building.
  • Rate of pay: Content Developers will be paid at the hourly rate.
