Hiatt Middle School Celebrates Building Improvements

Hiatt Middle School students and staff will celebrate their newly renovated building with a community open house on Tuesday.

The event will be held:

Tuesday, September 25
5:30 to 6:30 PM
Hiatt Middle School
1214 E. 15th St.

The open house will be an opportunity for the community to meet Hiatt’s new administration and teachers, as well as learn about a new school program called WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) created to reduce bullying and enhance the educational environment of the school. Information about all school programs also will be available.

“Hiatt is excited to finally be able to open our doors to the community and families of our students,” said Dr. Debbie Chapman, principal. “Teachers and community members will be displaying the great learning going on inside the building as well as the outside opportunities that are available to our students. Our hope is to have the halls full of adults sharing the excitement that the students have for our ‘home.’”

Improvements at Hiatt totaled $6,801,761 and include a new kitchen at the north end of the school, a new main office, exterior door replacement, mechanical/electrical upgrades, security/technology upgrades, and parking lot improvements. The addition of an elevator and a Boys & Girls Club at Hiatt will be finished this fall.
