DMPS Career Fair Highlights 300 Job Opportunities

Des Moines Public Schools will be holding a Career Fair on Saturday, April 20 with more than 300 positions available throughout the district.

The DMPS Career Fair will be:

Saturday, April 20
8:00 AM to Noon
East High School (815 E. 13th Street)

Des Moines Public Schools, the state’s largest provider of public education, expects to hire 200 or more teachers for the 2013-14 school year. New teachers have the opportunity to earn a free Master’s Degree and a starting salary of as much as $40,532 under the district’s alternative contract, the only one of its kind in Iowa. Teaching openings are in a wide range of grade levels and subject areas.

In addition, the district expects to fill at least 100 support staff positions for 2013-14, including teacher associates, bus drivers, food service and custodial staff, and more.

These career opportunities reflect both new positions as well as openings created by retirements and resignations.

Principals and administrators from all schools and departments will be on hand to conduct interviews and answer questions. Applicants for teaching positions should bring copies of their resumes along with their Iowa teaching certification and college transcript. Applicants for all other positions should bring copies of their resumes and high school or college diploma.
