Equity Focused, Results Oriented School Leaders for DMPS
Des Moines Public Schools has created new positions for the 2019-20 school year at the school level: Associate Principal for Instruction K-12 is one more step in DMPS becoming the model for urban education in the United States.
The school district is looking for licensed educational administrators who are equity focused, possess deep instructional knowledge and are results oriented as it relates to improved instructional practices and evidenced in student achievement to fill these roles.
Successful Associate Principals will work with their school communities to create, pursue and monitor a vision for instruction, school conditions and collaboration that seek equitable outcomes for students. In addition, Associate Principals will lead the way for improvements in student achievement and staff performance through professional development, instructional leadership and coordination of a comprehensive tiered intervention system. The Associate Principal will adhere to the Iowa Standards for School Leaders.

The following are highlights about the Associate Principal position:
- Job title: Associate Principal for Instruction K-12
- Salary range: $72,735 – $109,149
- This salary range represents the beginning to high level of compensation. Candidates offered employment will be compensated based on skills, work experience and education.
- Full family medical and dental benefits at no cost to employee with participation in district Wellness program
- IPERS – state retirement benefits
- Moving expenses paid up to $6,000, if candidate moves into district boundary
- 230 day contract – Work beginning July 2019
- Iowa administrator license required
- Iowa evaluator approval required
