As Des Moines Public Schools offers both hybrid and virtual learning models for students at this time, please see the information below for information on how free school meals will be provided. All DMPS students are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at no charge, regardless of income, for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.
Hybrid students will automatically receive meals at the end of most days at school. You do not need to do anything to start this process. Guidelines for food safety and reheating instructions will be included with the meals and can also be found on the Des Moines Public Schools webpage. If your child is not at school and misses a meal distribution, please call 515-242-7636.
- Students will receive two days of meals on Monday at the end of the day, for suggested consumption on Thursday and Friday.
- Students will receive two days of meals on Tuesday at the end of the day, for suggested consumption on Saturday and Sunday.
- Students will receive two days of meals on Thursday at the end of the day, for suggested consumption on Saturday and Sunday.
- Students will receive two days of meals on Friday at the end of the day, for suggested consumption on Monday and Tuesday.
We are excited to continue to offer healthy breakfasts and lunches to students who have chosen to receive their education on an all-virtual platform this semester.
We will be offering additional opportunities for families that have selected virtual learning to continue to receive breakfast and lunch meals at no cost for the remainder of the school year. Please call 515-242-7636 to schedule a day and time to pick up multiple meals for your students. Time slots are available Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM in half hour increments.
Once a day and time has been selected, families should come to the Central Nutrition Center Annex building, located at 1301 2nd Ave to receive meals. Please call our office at 515-242-7636 to let our staff know you have arrived.
