DART Changes Farebox Procedure

Every school day more than 11,000 DMPS students ride a bus to and from school. The familiar, Des Moines Public Schools big yellow buses transport most of the students, but hundreds more ride DART buses.

DART also offers free rides in the evenings, on weekends and during breaks to all DMPS students. But the way students check in on the DART bus… is about to change.

Students who ride the DART bus to and from school will have access to DART buses throughout the entire day. (good scan and noise) If you don’t ride the DART bus for school — your ID will only be accepted evenings, weekends and breaks, and not during the day. (bad blat)

DART has begun installing the new fare boxes in its buses, and will continue to add more throughout the fall.
