Six DMPS wrestlers competed in last week’s State Wrestling Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena, and four came away with spots on the podium including one championship title.

Lincoln High School sophomore Mickey Griffith won the Class 3A 170 pound wrestling title with a 9-2 decision over Ryan Plummer of Linn-Mar. Griffith is the first Lincoln wrestler since 2003 – and the first DMPS wrestler since 2012 – to win a state title.

Griffith will be recognized during halftime of the first round sub-state basketball game tonight at Lincoln’s Bowen Roundhouse. The CIML Metro conference champion Rails basketball team hosts Mason City in the opening post-season game. Tip-off is at 7:00 PM and tickets are $6.
