Lincoln High’s Adam Arthur is a 2016 recipient of a James Madison Graduate Fellowship.

Adam Arthur was awarded a James Madison Graduate Fellowship by the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation.

Arthur has taught social studies in the district for five years and currently teaches Advanced Placement Government and Politics at Lincoln High School. He is one of three DMPS teachers, along with Joseph Nydle at Hoover and Canada Snyder at Central Academy, who developed the Caucus 101 curriculum which was posted on the website of the Iowa Secretary of State’s office for teachers statewide to use during the run-up to last February’s first-in-the-nation Iowa caucuses.

Arthur also works as an instructional coach on the AP Government and Politics Knowledge in Action project which is a project of the George Lucas Educational Foundation.

The Madison Foundation offers $24,000 fellowships to individuals desiring to become outstanding teachers of the American Constitution at the secondary school level.

Arthur was nominated by his colleague, Jason Danielson, who was named a Madison Fellow in 2011 when he was teaching at Hoover High. Danielson has since moved to Central Academy.
