Congratulations to five DMPS teachers honored by the Rotary Club of Des Moines as the 2016 Educators of the Year during the club’s annual awards luncheon Thursday at the Wakonda Club.

Each year the Rotary Club of Des Moines chooses DMPS educators from the elementary, middle, and high school levels to be recognized for their excellence in teaching.

Each honored teacher receives a check for $1,000 to use as he/she deems appropriate and a desk clock.  An engraved plaque listing the recipient’s name is placed in the school office or display case for the year the teacher is recognized.

This year’s honored teachers are:

  • Kate Galligan, Theodore Roosevelt High School
  • Kevin Klimowski, Harding Middle School
  • Joseph McCright, Stowe Elementary School
  • Deborah Vogel, Ruby Van Meter School
  • Jo Walker, Madison Elementary School
