Student-Musicians Head to All-State This Week

Congratulations and good luck to DMPS maestros representing Lincoln, North and Roosevelt high schools who were accepted into the All-State orchestra and chorus!

They were all invited to participate in the annual All-State Music Festival on the campus of Iowa State University, which gets underway later this week on November 20.

For one student – Roosevelt violinist Vaughan Hommerding – this marks the fourth year in a row to be selected for this statewide musical honor.

The following are DMPS students who were accepted at October auditions:

Orchestra

  • Vaughan Hommerding  – Roosevelt – Violin
  • Maya Miller – Roosevelt – Flute
  • Elizabth Fisher – Roosevelt – Violin
  • Geneva Gaukel – Roosevelt – Bass
  • Julian Gruber – Roosevelt – Violin
  • Olivia Helton – Roosevelt – Violin
  • Mila Kaut – Roosevelt – Violin
  • Shana Liu – Roosevelt – Violin
  • Anna Steenson – Roosevelt – Cello
  • Andrew Thai – Roosevelt – Violin

Chorus

  • Joshua Smith – Lincoln – Tenor
  • Rebekah Ostermann – North – Soprano

The culminating festival concert is scheduled for Saturday night at 7:30 PM in Hilton Coliseum. It will be taped and aired on Iowa Public Television at the following times:
