Hoover, Lincoln, Roosevelt Send Swimmers to State Meet

Swimmers from Hoover, Lincoln and Roosevelt will compete at the State Meet on February 9.

Good luck to the student-athletes from Hoover, Lincoln and Roosevelt high schools who will be competing at the 2013 Boys’ State Swimming Meet on Saturday in Marshalltown.

The Roosevelt Roughriders, who won the CIML Metro title in late January, are led by senior Max Ward, who will be defending his 2012 state title in the 100 yard butterfly. He will be joined in that event by junior Connor Gillette. The Rider also qualified three relay teams.

The Lincoln Rails qualified two relay teams for state. In addition, senior Mitchell Friend will be competing in the 100 yard butterfly and senior Matt Friend qualified in two events: the 200 yard freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle.

Finally, the Hoover Huskies will be represented by sophomore Corbin Faidley who qualified in the meet’s distance event, the 500 yard freestyle.

Roosevelt

  • 200 yard medley
  • 200 yard freestyle relay
  • 400 yard freestyle relay
  • Connor Gillette, jr. – 100 yard butterfly
  • Max Ward, sr. – 100 yard butterfly

Lincoln

  • 200 yard freestyle relay
  • 400 yard freestyle relay
  • Mitchell Friend, sr. – 100 yard butterfly
  • Matt Friend, sr. – 200 yard freestyle and 500 yard freestyle

Hoover

  • Corbin Faidley, so. – 500 yard freestyle
