Continuing a more than 50 year sister city relationship with Kofu, Japan,  Des Moines Public Schools has five teachers currently placed in Kofu Japan Schools.

The teachers participating in the Des Moines School/Kofu School Exchange program are Mark Snell, Cindy Snell, Angela Rasmussen, Sheila Bergan, and Patrick Gamble.

Teachers are placed in Japanese schools for a one year assignment, teaching English and assisting Japanese teachers.

“After teaching at Central Campus for 16 years, being a Foreign English Teacher has been a great opportunity to learn and experience a new culture, I will return to DMPS a better teacher because of this experience,” said Cindy Snell.

Please contact Des Moines’ Kofu, Japan Coordinator, Gregory Grylls at gregory.grylls@dmschools.org for any additional information regarding Kofu and the sister-city relationship.
