Be a Part of our Summer Door-to-Door Campaign

Des Moines Public Schools educates more than 10,000 students from Kindergarten through 3rd grade, plus another 2,000 children in early childhood programs, critical ages for young students to get off to a good start in becoming good readers.

While teachers are doing great work in school to meet the needs of students, reading skills also improve outside of the classroom when adults offer their help.

A small amount of time now can make a lifetime of difference for a student:

  • Make time to read with your child
  • Take your child to a library to borrow FREE books
  • Talk to your child’s teacher

As little as 15 minutes a day can help a child reach to succeed … and be ready to succeed in school and beyond.
