Reach Out to Dropouts Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are still needed to participate in the inaugural Reach Out to Dropouts event on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009.

United Way of Central Iowa and Des Moines Public Schools are recruiting people to join teams of volunteers from the school district and community to walk door-to-door from 8 a.m. to noon to the homes of students who have not enrolled in high school to encourage them to re-enroll. All high schools will be open that day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. to provide information and begin the re-entry process for students.

Volunteers can sign-up by visiting the United Way Web site or by calling 246-2504.
