DMPS to Stay with Central Iowa Metropolitan League for Two Years

Des Moines Public Schools athletic officials announced today it is the intention of the district to remain with the Central Iowa Metropolitan League for the school years 2014-2015 and 2015-2016.

“We have athletic schedule contracts with all 19 schools within the CIML for the next two school years,” Des Moines Public Schools Chief of Schools Matt Smith said.  “We intend to honor those.”

Smith said discussions about a possible departure from the CIML will continue over the next couple of years.  He said there is no timeline on those talks.

“We’re not going to rush anything,” Smith said.  “We’re going to carefully consider our options.”

Smith said the district values its relationship with all of the schools in the CIML.
