DMPS To Hire 100+ Teachers for 2017-18

Educator Career Fair photo.Des Moines Public Schools is planning to hire more than 100 teachers for the 2017-18 school year. Among the teachers in greatest demand are Special Education teachers, English as a Second Language teachers, middle and high school science and math teachers, and elementary teachers with reading endorsements.

DMPS will start the 2017 hiring process with the annual Educator Career Fair on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at the Community Choice Convention Center, from 8 a.m. until noon. Representatives from all 60 schools will be in attendance, along with administrators and Human Resources staff. Some interviews for high demand positions will be conducted the day of the fair. Eighteen-month contracts are available for some positions.

Staff from the district’s early childhood program, athletics and activities department, AmeriCorps and the substitute center will also attend.
