Emergency/Weather Notification Information

Des Moines Public Schools has an automated calling\text notification system to notify families of weather and other emergency situations.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

• The caller ID on your phone will show the number 515-242-7990. The texts show a 912-01 number as the sender and are prefixed with DESMOINESSCH: (followed by the message).
• The numbers that will be called are the phone numbers you submitted to your school, which are stored in Infinite Campus. You can go into Infinite Campus to indicate which numbers will receive the call. Directions are below.

How do I indicate which phone number(s) will be called for the weather notifications?

NOTE: these steps are only for PARENTS, not for staff.

1. Log on to Infinite Campus
2. Once in Campus, click on CONTACT PREFERENCES at the bottom left.
3. Under EMERGENCY, click on the box to place a check mark next the phone number(s) you wish to receive the weather notification alerts.
4. Please note that we cannot select the text notification for you, due to possible charges associated with texting from your wireless carrier. If you prefer texts instead of phone calls, please select that option and deselect the “Voice” checkbox for each number.
5. Click Save.
