Iowa’s Largest Provider of Public Education

For more than 100 years, Des Moines Public Schools has been educating the students of Iowa’s capital city. Today, DMPS is the largest provider of public education in Iowa, with more than 31,000 students and 5,000 teachers and staff in 60 schools throughout the community.

Our School Services department provides support to the wide range of elementary, middle and high schools throughout the community. In addition, this department oversees several programs to keep students engaged and on track for success in school, from special education to learning services to extracurricular activities.
