Activities

Get Involved: Our challenge, and our quest, is to capture the spirit of every child so he or she can grow to be the person they were created to be.

Student Activities play a major role in the growth and development of students. Activities help to increase student engagement, and the feeling of belonging within the school. Activities are an essential element in a student’s educational experience. Our overall goal is to help increase student involvement in activities and provide all students access to a variety of out of school time opportunities.

The Activities Department works with school administration, staff, and the community to create opportunities for the students of Des Moines. We work to create systems in all schools that allow for students to participate in several different activities. The Des Moines Public School District Activities Department will be guided by what is best for students. We utilize accurate and timely data to create, drive and evaluate programming at the building and district level. We work collaboratively with all stakeholders to provide opportunities for students and families. Our ultimate goal is to serve students and families in helping them find their passion through activities.
