Achievement Outcomes

The Flex Academy Night School goal is for each Flex Student to graduate and complete high school with a post-secondary plan in place, as well as learn within a flexible scheduling environment to accommodate work schedules, family obligations, daycare needs, or for students who prefer to work in the evening.

Night School Flex Teachers

The Flex Night School will provide students access to an endorsed English, Social Studies, Math, and Science teacher one night a week, who provides content expertise and assessments. Students are able to work with the content teacher to help maintain progress, set personal goals, practice content, prepare for assessments, access tutoring, learn note-taking skills, and take assessments.  Students can come into the Flex Academy Night School to meet with teachers or can communicate via phone, email, or Skype.

Night School Curriculum

Students are supported to discovery academics through an online program.  Learning topics range from a global and national perspective to a local perspective, designed to relate the curriculum to real work experiences.  Students are expected schedule time with their teachers to take all district assessments in the Flex Studio.

Standards-Referenced Grading

Students are assessed using the standards-referenced approach, which is instruction aligned to content focused learning standards.  Through the online program, Flex teachers guide the students through knowledge they are expected to learn, provide continual feedback for improvement, provide re-teaching opportunities when necessary, and allow numerous opportunities for practice.  The results yield self-direction while preparing students for college.

Flex Academy Night School Teachers Students

The Flex Night School is designed to accommodate those students identified by the Early Indicator System as a potential drop out and re-engaged students, and are in need of additional support as identified by the school’s student support staff. Priority for placement is given to re-engaged students and under-credited seniors.
