Congratulations to four outstanding DMPS softball players who were selected to the 2015 Iowa Girls Coaches Association All-State softball teams announced yesterday.

Lincoln High senior Lauren Poortinga was named to the Class 5A second team and a pair of East ballplayers made third team: senior infielder Courtney Fudge and junior Jessa May.

Hoover sophomore catcher Madisen Blackford was named to the Class 4A third team.

Lauren is a three-time all-conference short stop and a four-year starter at Lincoln who will play college softball and study nursing at Grand View University.

Courtney finished among the state leaders in hits, doubles and runs batted in this season as she keyed the Scarlet offensive attack.

Jessa should be one of the state’s top returning pitchers next year.

With two years remaining, Madisen projects as one of the dominant 4A players before her Huskie career is over.
