Northside Tradition Continues This Week

Northside Night 2014A Northside tradition set to continue the first week of March.

Four-hundred voices will join in song for the second annual Northside Night Vocal Music Concert. Elementary school choirs from Findley, Oak Park, Cattell and Madison will join with choirs from Harding Middle School and North High School to present an evening of inspirational music.

Northside Night will take place on Thursday, March 5th at 7:00pm in the North High School Auditorium. General admission is free to the public and reserve seating is available on NorthPresents.com for $2 per ticket.

Each individual choir will perform during the concert and then all groups will join on stage for a mass choir performance. The mass choir will sing “I Can” by Kirk Franklin, accompanied by North High’s Gospel Band. “I Can”, a song about personal achievement and making a difference in the world, has been adopted as the Northside anthem.

Brothers, sisters, cousins, and friends from across the north side will have a chance to perform together in this event celebrating Music in Our Schools Month. Family and community members are invited to join us in this wonderful tradition for Des Moines’ north side schools!

Vocal music educators and directors participating are:

Vanessa Brady, North High School
Emily Klotz, Harding Middle School
Nels Dovre, Madison Elementary
Dustin Harmsen, Oak Park Elementary
Stephanie Hein, Cattell Elementary
Jane Olson, Findley Elementary
