Student-Athletes Qualify for 18 Events at 104th Annual Drake Relays

Alexa Hunt of Roosevelt will defend her shot put title at the Drake Relays while her teammate Jaylynn Roberts-Lewis will try to repeat as the long jump champion.

DMPS student-athletes representing East, Lincoln, North and Roosevelt have qualified to compete in 18 different events this week at the 104th annual Drake Relays.

Two student-athletes from Des Moines will be defending their titles won at last year’s Relays. Roosevelt’s Alexa Hunt is the defending shot put champion while her teammate Jalynn Roberts-Lewis won the long jump title in 2012.

High school competition gets underway at the Drake Relays on Thursday and runs through Saturday. For information on schedules, tickets, and more visit www.drakerelays.org.
